🎲 It’s all fun and games at Holmwood House! 🐍🎉 There was plenty of laughter, friendly competition and smiles all around during our recent board games session as residents enjoyed a classic game of Snakes and Ladders. Board games are a wonderful way to encourage conversation, reminisce, keep our minds active and, most importantly, have fun together. Whether climbing the ladders or sliding down the snakes, every throw of the dice brought excitement and lots of cheering! 🌍💚 At Holmwood House, we're proud to do our bit for the environment! 💚🌍 Looking after people also means looking after the world around us, and we're committed to making our home as green as possible. Here are just a few of the ways we're helping: ♻️ Water butts installed around the home to collect rainwater for our gardens. 🥕 Food waste from our kitchen is composted and used to help our beautiful gardens flourish. 🛢️ All used cooking oil is collected and recycled. 📰 Old newspapers and towels are donated to the local RSPCA centre in East Winch, where they help care for animals in need. 🔋 Used batteries are collected and recycled responsibly. ♻️ Recycling bins are located throughout the home, making it easy for everyone to recycle paper, cardboard, plastics and other everyday waste. 🎯 Bullseyes, Big Smiles & Brilliant Company! ⚽🪓 There was plenty of laughter and friendly competition at Holmwood House as our residents enjoyed an afternoon of target games! From testing their aim with axe throwing to taking on the challenge of football darts, everyone had a fantastic time cheering each other on and celebrating some impressive shots. Our gentlemen then made the most of the beautiful weather with a relaxing outdoor session as part of this week’s Men’s Shed. Spending time together outdoors, chatting, sharing stories and enjoying meaningful activities is what it’s all about. 🍫 Today at Holmwood House, we celebrated one of the sweetest days of the year – World Chocolate Day! 🍫 Our morning began with a wonderful trip down memory lane during our reminiscence session, where residents explored classic chocolate bars from years gone by, shared stories of favourite childhood treats, remembered visits to the local sweet shop, and reflected on the special occasions that always seemed to include a little chocolate. We rounded off the session with a fun chocolate-themed quiz and word searches. Of course, no World Chocolate Day would be complete without tasting some chocolate! 🍬 This afternoon, residents enjoyed sampling a delicious selection of favourites, including Milkybar, Mars, Lion Bar, Bounty, Aero and many more. There were plenty of smiles, lively conversations and even a few friendly debates over which chocolate deserved the top spot! At Holmwood House, it's moments like these that spark memories, encourage conversation and bring everyone together. 🎯 I Trust My Resident Challenge 🎯 There were plenty of laughs at Holmwood House as our residents put their trust (and aim!) to the test during our “I Trust My Resident” challenge! The mission? Knock the paper cup off a staff member’s head using only a beanbag…easier said than done! Safe to say there were lots of smiles, cheers and a few very impressive throws!
